Week 8

Week 8 Pitch

Social and mental wellbeing is heavily effected by activities such as social port. the problem we found was there was a lack of people who had the 'base' or enough people they knew that were sporting enthusiasts. Therefore not being able to go and play sport socially or causally as frequently a they would have liked.

Wellington is a creative and business oriented city with incoming designers and business students coming through the city each year.
We went out and conducted a survey into the local wellington community and asked how often people participated in casual sporting activity and majority saying they did occasionally or regularly whilst a large portion said that they never did.
We then asked why don't you participate in casual sporting activities and the most answered was that they didn't know people to play causal sporting activities with alongside not knowing locations or owning the equipment to go and play any casual sport.
We asked if people would be interested in participating in casual sporting activities with people they didn't know and majority said yes they would. - This gave us the incentive to create a community via an online platform to bring like-minded sporting enthusiasts that would connect them to each other to participate in casual sporting events as well as locating the nearest sporting facilities to them to play at.
Our App we designed would be predominantly made up of 3 screens, one which would be a map- this would indicate to the user where the sporting facilites are around the city as well as having coloured icons signifying whether there was a game being played there, if a game was scheduled or if the facility was free for use.
A screen that was a 'newsfeed' like system constantly updating in real time where games were being played, if someone had created a game and was looking for participants to join him or her.

Another screen that would come up after clicking an icon highlighting a sports facility-this page would give the user the change to 'create a game' - they would initially choose the location, what time the game was to be played and how may participants he/she was wanting to join them. after the game was 'created' the app would send out a notification to other users withing he area to notify them that a game has been created in their area.

The coloured icons project the companies and sporting centres that were keen and 'onboard' with our app idea. they were particularly keen with providing a user-base for the app and potential advertisers for the app in the long run.
The faed icons show the companies that we were having conversation with but yet to hear back with specific details on what they would be keen to help u out with.
This is the breakdown of costs that our app would have. These figures were from an app developer himself.
This profit structure model shows in red the initial expenditure that would be needed to develop the app then the spiked of expenditure represent introducing the app into other regions of the country or cities around the world -  these would mainly be advertising fees and communication with potential sponsors that would provide us with information such as sports facilities and a userbase that would be interested in the use of the app.
We looked into a non-profit structure that would rely on sponsorship/grants from community granting trusts, the expenditure would still stand as spikes for introducing the app into more cities.

Feedback
Had 2 minutes left, due to missed material and fast pace speaking.
We had to define our financial figures rather that giving an estimated range.
