Good presentation well spoken by Will and under 4 minute time limit
What is stopping it for being scale-able ? why focus on Wellington?
Need to define who is going to pay for it?
Define profit figures

Conversation with ASB Sports centre Wellington:

Will T -
Do you offer advertising platforms at the ASB Sports Centre? How might we be able to advertise through the ASB Sports Centre? What are your advertising options and costs?

ASB Sports Centre-
Hi Will thank you for your message - your app sounds interesting and I would be keen to find out more about it. On site advertising options include TV display screens, flyers, posters, banners. We have online options too. I am keen hear more about your app!

This provided us with not only a validation that the app idea was an interest to people in the target market but an interest by a huge potential client or sponsor that we could advertise through. The ASB is one of Wellingtons largest sporting facilities that has hundreds of people in the door everyday - this would allow us to advertise our app to a specific target audience that would most likely be keen to download and become a user of our app.

Conversation with New Zealand Community Trust:

Will T-
Hi there...
...
...
...
We have spoken to an app developer who estimates the cost for our app will cost $40,000 - $50,000.
We are not asking for a grant as of now, but rather we are interested in funding this type of concept, Namely an app that acts as a facilitator that generates community participation to nearby sports facilities to compete in sporting activity, as well as providing a platform for users to find sports clubs and ultimately generate more registrations toward club sports.
NZCT-

Hi Will,

Firstly, we can only consider applications from non-profit entities rather than individuals. You would need to set up a legal non-profit structure. Should you do this the purpose you are applying for can be considered. However, my best guess is that our Net Proceeds Committee would not be comfortable awarding a grant to the development of an app that is unproven and yet to have any uptake. Kind regards,
Ben Hodges
National Grants Manager

This conversation with NZCT cleared up to us that we would require a user-base already for there to be any proceeds awarded to us. This type of platform would be required to be proven first. Hence the initial funding would not be able to be awarded by the NZCT.

We would also have to provide a not for profit business structure for this grant to be awarded.

PledgeMe meeting

As a start up we looked into the possibility of crowd funding through pledgMe to cover the initial app development costs. However, the issue we found here was that people in our target audience (students and young professionals) don't have a lot of disposable income to donate money to a start up.

This meant we would have to find an audience that could benefit from our app being in creation monetarily. This would be the companies we intended to sell advertising space to.

This gave us the idea of proposing to businesses an opportunity to pay for advertising in advance to cover our initial start up cost of $40-$60,000. eg, offering then 6 months free advertising on our app once it has been completed for $1,000 or $2,000 upfront.

TBI Health

We had a meeting with there sales rep Rodney Ford and Wellington clinic manager, they gave us information about what they would expect in return for their investment in the app. For them to invest some money into the app they would want to have exclusivity over other physio's locally.  If they were to spend $1000 on our app they would expect it to generate a further 15 new clients for them.
