Week 4

Planning business canvas. Place original business canvas.

Initially we had two ideas:

- Idea 1 being App to connect people to play social sport that's sends out notifications to users near by and shows near by locations of venues.

- Idea 2 being a sports equipment vending machine

This would be placed at council sporting facilities around NZ allowing people in cities to play at these facilities with out having to bring their own gear with them. Instead paying a small fee to hire equipment from a 'vending machine'.

This created several issues we needed to solve:

A major issue was deciding how we would charge our users.
This could be done in a number of ways.
-Hourly rate.
-One fee and return when you are finished.
-keep it free, but have advertising.

Another issue was how we would deal with damages to the equipment, and how we would prevent users stealing the equipment.

Over all, after weighing the pros and cons we decided to move away from the idea to focus on our social sports App.

Pro's:
Is a charged service so there is potential to make profit.
Provides a service for people who want to get active in the community.
Machines provide branding for the online platform we are designing.
Is a rather new idea and would be the first in NZ.
A company or council could use it as branding or as advertising space.

Issues:
What is the incentive for users to return the equipment?
Who is going to supply the sport equipment?
How would maintenance work? replacing old equipment, when machine breaks etc.
How much equipment will this machine need to hold?
Complicated system of hiring sports equipment.
Who is going to make it?
How much will it cost to make?

Development in how the app will work and interface

New Survey Results

Put out new survey to get an idea of the general publics perspective on social sport.
Results came out similar to our initial survey providing good validation for our concept.

57% of the public engage with casual sports

Not knowing people to play with and venues are the main reasons why people don't participate in casual sports

Tennis, netball, football and basketball are the most preferred sports showing a desire for team sports that require a fair group of people
