Week 3

Information Sheets

Further idea development.

Target audience
At this moment our target audience is aimed towards tertiary students new to the city of Wellington. This particular target audience applies to us as a group because we all have had situations where we wanted to play some social sport with people but different factors prevented us from doing so. Wellington has a good population of students as they host multiple Universities and tertiary institutions.

Students new the city...
are unaware of venues and locations where casual sports are played?
if they don't have any friends to play with, they don't know anyone to play with.
don't have much disposable income
are willing to explore the city
an so on...

A social sporting platform will cater to this particular audience because there are many like minded people who want to engage in casual sport but just need to be connected with people and venues.

How the social platform will work

Create sports events at local sporting facilities that would notify users within a 5km radius or so and 'invite' other users to participate in a social sporting event the initial user creates. Other users in the perimeter can see the notification and can join the event, bring together people who want to play this sport at this venue at this time.

Initial Survey

This survey was an initial test to see what people thought about social sport. People we chose to complete this survey were people we knew to get an rough idea of what they thought and what needed to change in the survey.

results:

Q1. Only 11 percent of respondents did not participate in casual sports, meaning most people did participate. This shows us  there is a desire in this group of people to participate in social sports.

Q2. Most common reason why people don't participate in casual sport was because they are "too busy". This was not a factor we could control so our focus were on the other factors.

Q3. The most played sports were basketball, netball, rugby and racket sports. This expresses the desire to play team sports which needs to fair group of people to get a game together.

Q4. 93% of people were ok with playing casual sports with strangers, showing us that a social sporting platform could a viable product for these users.

We thought this initial survey was good and with a few tweaks was ready to be distributed to the public.
